Some of you stumbled upon NoLongerNative by way of expat.com, since they were one of the first directories to list my little blog on life in Bogotá. However, they’ve recently expanded their website to include a few more things that are worth mentioning!
No longer a simple directory of bloggers, expat.com has expanded into an international community. You may join an individual group (listed by country), or if you’re interested in general about life abroad, you can peruse the site openly.
Joining a community puts you in touch with advice through a range of features: expat guides, ads for jobs and housing, as well as an agenda of events organized in your particular country. The directory of blogs by location is still there, but also be sure to take a look at the site’s blog, which features regular posts from their multi-cultural team.
One of the biggest strengths of expat.com is its discussion forums. There’s indispensable information on expected salary ranges and what you should expect cost-wise at settling in. The most recent forum posts are about tips and advice to thrive in Colombia and the essentials to bring with you on a move. Of course, all of the answers are coming from people already living in Colombia.
And just a reminder that this site—alongside many others—is within easy reach on No Longer Native’s Resources page.
